Tour the Pilgrim Monument and Museum !

visit:  www.pilgrim-monument.org
(508) 487-1310
High Pole Hill Road

Walk to the top for the most incredible views of Provincetown and Cape Cod
The Cape Cod Pilgrim Memorial Association built the Pilgrim Monument to honor the Pilgrims’ first landing in Provincetown. President Theodore Roosevelt laid the cornerstone in 1907. In 1910, President William Howard Taft dedicated the finished 252-foot tower. In 1910, the Cape’s first building built to house a museum opened at the base of the monument, to educate the public about Provincetown’s role in Pilgrim history and American history.

The Provincetown Museum is a charming mix of the old and the new. The permanent exhibits retain the charm of an old-fashioned history museum. Exhibits highlight the arrival of the Mayflower Pilgrims, the town’s rich maritime history, the early days of modern American theater in Provincetown, and the building of the monument.

There is also a recreation of a 19th century sea captain’s parlor at home and his quarters at sea, a diorama of the Mayflower Compact being signed aboard the Mayflower in Provincetown Harbor, and a scale model of the first theater of the Provincetown Players.

Visit the Provincetown Art Association and Museum !

visit:  www.paam.org
(508) 487-1750
460 Commercial Street

PAAM's recent renovation and expansion has improved its facilities to reflect its mission. The contemporary wing—adjacent to the original building, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places—enables artist members to show their work in contemporary galleries beside our significant American art collection and other world-class exhibitions. The galleries also offer accommodating venues for our chamber music, jazz, dance and spoken word performances. The new studio classrooms offer appropriate spaces for our children and youth education programs, and for our accredited adult courses in the Museum School at PAAM.

Visit the Whydah Museum !
Provincetown's Pirate Museum

visit:  www.whydah.com
(508) 487-8899
on Macmillan Wharf

In 1984, underwater explorer Barry Clifford and his Project Team discovered the site of the 1717 shipwreck of the Whydah off Cape Cod, the only verified pirate shipwreck ever discovered. For the past two decades, we have recovered and researched treasures from the Whydah, as well as from other sites connected to the history of piracy. Every shipwreck is a time-capsule, and each artifact tells a story. Over twenty years, we've collected a lot of pirate stories. To that end, this site is about pirate treasures lost and found -and about pirate mysteries solved and unsolved...

Shuttle to Long Point
We like to say it's the best kept secret in town and really it still is. If you haven't experienced the beauty of Long Point, you haven't fully seen Provincetown and the tip of Cape Cod. The Cape hooks all the way round, completely enclosing Provincetown Harbor and making it the sheltered anchorage it is.  At the very tip is Long Point Lighthouse and there are no roads, off-road tracks or bike trails to get there. Instead it's a tough three-mile plus hike from the far west end of town OR, just hop on one of our Coast Guard inspected pontoon boats for a 10-minute water ride to the point.

Every half hour in high season and frequently in off season, our USCG licensed captains will pick you up either from MacMillan Pier slip #2 right in the very center of town or from our main dock at Flyer's Boatyard in the West End. The specially adapted pontoon boats we use are able to pullright up on to the beach near Long Point Lighthouse you won't even have to get your feet wet!

Boat Rentals & Sailing Lessons
Flyer's has the largest fleet of boats for rent on Cape Cod, offering a wide range of craft to get you out on the beautiful and sheltered Provincetown Harbor. We have power boats from 8hp-engined skiffs to 50hp speedboats; pontoon boats for larger parties; one-person and two-person ocean kayaks and sailboats from fun Sunfish to sturdy day-sail Rhodes 19s. We also offer sailing lessons and private sunset and party cruises. We have considerable experience at organizing small wedding parties by boat as well as beach grill-outs. Memorial services are also respectfully accommodated by our Coast Guard licensed captains.

See panoramic views of Provincetown Harbor(the 2nd largest natural harbor in the world), Cape Cod Bay, and magnificent Atlantic Ocean. You will go through the 4,000 acre National Seashore Park. The expert narration includes such subjects as the first landing place of the pilgrims, the "graveyard of the Atlantic", the Pilgrim Memorial Monument and Museum, playwright Eugene O'Neill, the oldest home in Provincetown, constructed with timbers from shipwrecks (c.1746).
